One address, and a person reads it. Usually the same day, at worst within two business days. A bug, a question, something that went wrong, a copy of your data, or deleting it — all of it goes here.

Getting started

• Sign in with your phone number. We text you a one-time code. There is no password to forget. You can also connect Apple so you can get back in if you ever lose the number.
• Allow location. Always Allow is what lets the app tell you a friend is nearby while your phone is in your pocket. While Using is enough to look at the map yourself.
• Add your people. Search for a username or invite someone from your contacts. Nothing is shared until you have both accepted.
• Choose what each friend sees. Exact, Nearby, or Hidden, set per person, changed whenever you like.

What the app does

• The map. Who is around right now, and how close. Tap a friend to see how you are sharing with them.
• Nearby alerts. A quiet notification when a friend is close enough to actually meet.
• The Finder. For the last two hundred feet: point your phone and it points you at them, which is the difference between knowing your friend is at the show and actually finding them.
• Paths. Where your routes have overlapped, including before you met. With a friend, one of you asks and the other approves. With anyone else, you pair in person by scanning a code on each other’s phone.
• Trips. A group that shares exact location for the dates you set, and stops when the trip ends. Trips also get an album.
• Albums. When people were in the same place at the same time, their photos can land in one album instead of five camera rolls. Nothing exists until somebody shares the first picture.
• History. Your own places and travels, kept for you. It is private unless you choose to share something from it.
• Widgets. Who is near, on your home screen, without opening anything.

Controlling what you share

• Go invisible. One tap takes you off the map for everyone. It hides where you are and where you have been recently. Nobody is notified.
• Per-friend levels. Exact, Nearby, or Hidden for each person.
• Hidden zones. Draw a zone around home, work, or anywhere else, and you never appear inside it.
• Pause location. Stop location entirely from inside the app, or take the permission away in iOS Settings. Some things, like nearby alerts, cannot work without it.

All of these live under Me › Settings, along with Permissions, which shows in one place what you have allowed and what you have not.

Blocking and reporting

• Report something. Press and hold a photo, a comment, or a note and choose Report. Reports are confidential, a person reviews them, and anything against the rules comes down.
• Block someone. Choose Block from anything of theirs. Blocking works in both directions at once: you disappear from each other, and the friendship ends.
• Undo a block. Me › Settings › Blocked Users.

Notifications

The app can tell you when a friend is nearby, when someone arrives somewhere you care about, and when a trip or an album is happening. Each type can be turned off on its own in the app, and all of them at once in Settings › Proximitii › Notifications on your phone.

Changing your phone number

You can move your account to a new number from inside the app, and connecting Apple gives you a second way back in if the number is already gone. If you are locked out, email support@proximitii.app from an address you can still reach and we will sort it out.

Battery and accuracy

The app is built to sit still when you do. It eases off the GPS at places you visit often and wakes up when you move, so a normal day should cost you a few percent. If you are seeing worse than that, or a friend's dot looks stale, tell us what phone you have and roughly when it happened. That detail is usually enough for us to find it.

Your data

• Delete your location history. Me › Settings › Delete Location History removes your GPS data, your visits, and your places.
• Delete your account. Me › Settings › Delete Account removes the account and everything attached to it. It cannot be undone.
• Get a copy. Email support@proximitii.app and we will send your data in a standard format within thirty days.
