Help with Proximitii — getting set up, managing your privacy, and reaching our team.
Proximitii is a location-sharing app for close friends. You add friends and — only with mutual, per-friend consent — see which friends are nearby, get a heads-up when one is close, leave short-lived "drops" pinned to a place, and review your own place history. If you need help with any of this, we're here.
Contact us
Email us and we'll get back to you, usually within 1–2 business days.
For privacy-specific requests (data access, deletion), you can also reach us at privacy@proximitii.app.
Getting started
- Sign in — Proximitii uses your phone number with a one-time SMS passcode. There's no password to remember.
- Permissions — For the live map and nearby-friend alerts, allow Location ("Always" powers background nearby-friend alerts; "While Using" is enough to see the map). Notifications let friends reach you when they're close.
- Add friends — Open Add Friends to search by username or invite people from your contacts. Location sharing only begins once a friend request is mutually accepted.
Your privacy & sharing controls
You're always in control of who can see your location:
- Visibility toggle — Turn your location sharing on or off at any time (Profile > Visible).
- Per-friend sharing levels — Set each friend to exact, nearby-only, or hidden.
- Hidden Zones — Create zones (like home or work) where your location is automatically hidden from friends.
- Pause tracking — Pause all location tracking from your Profile, or revoke location access in iOS Settings.
Reporting & blocking
We want Proximitii to be a safe, friendly space. If someone posts something objectionable or behaves abusively:
- Report content — Long-press a drop, comment, photo, or note and choose Report. Reports are confidential and reviewed by our team, which may hide or remove content that violates our guidelines.
- Block a user — Choose Block from any of their content. Blocking is mutual: you'll no longer see each other's drops, comments, notes, or location, and any friendship ends.
- Manage blocks — Review or undo blocks anytime from Profile > Blocked Users.
To report a serious safety concern directly, email support@proximitii.app and we'll respond promptly.
Notifications
- Proximitii can notify you when a friend is nearby, arrives at or leaves a place you're watching, when a drop is near you, and about friend activity.
- You can turn notification types on or off in the app, or disable notifications entirely in iOS Settings > Proximitii.
Managing your data
- Delete location history — Permanently remove all your GPS data, location sessions, and visit records from Profile > Data & Account > Delete Location History.
- Delete your account — Permanently delete your account and all associated data from Profile > Data & Account > Delete Account. This cannot be undone.
- Request your data — Email us to receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
Troubleshooting
Friends aren't showing on the map
Make sure location sharing is mutual (both of you have accepted) and that neither of you has paused sharing or set a hidden level. Confirm Location permission is granted in iOS Settings > Proximitii.
I'm not getting notifications
Check that Notifications are enabled in iOS Settings > Proximitii, and that the specific notification type is on in the app. "Always" location is needed for background nearby-friend alerts.
My location seems stuck or stale
Background updates depend on iOS and battery conditions. Make sure Location is set to "Always", Low Power Mode isn't suppressing updates, and the app has run at least once since your last restart.
